Assessments for Learning

Assessments for Learning is a person-centered private practice located in Pasadena, California serving children, adolescents and adults. We believe that each person is a unique and exceptional individual with their own way of learning and being in the world. Our psycho-educational assessments, counseling and consultative services can provide recommendations for navigating the world of school or work when difficulties understanding, remembering or applying information interfere with your progress and achievement.

We understand that parenting is one of the most challenging yet fulfilling experiences any person can have. It is our goal to work in partnership with parents as we pursue answers and recommendations for addressing learning challenges that affect your child.

For our adult clients, we work along side you to address questions about your own challenges with learning and processing that may have gone undiagnosed for years. We use assessment results to provide effective recommendations to help you improve your performance at work, school, or to forge a meaningful career path.

Who We Are...
What is a Licensed Educational Psychologist and How Can They Help?

A Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) is an educational specialist licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. They focus on the areas of learning and development, behavior, social-emotional functioning and mental health as they converge in ways that affect learning, general functioning, social/emotional engagement, and school or work performance.

LEPs are highly trained to perform psycho-educational assessments that look closely at the initial referral concerns related to learning and work challenges. They can arrive at diagnoses of disabilities affecting progress. Diagnoses may include ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Dyslexia, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities or Emotional Disabilities. Sometimes we find that a diagnosis is not warranted and there may be other considerations that are limiting potential. Information from these assessments is used to arrive at recommendations and individual plans for a person's progress.

LEPs also provide cognitive assessments that look at giftedness and how functioning levels may influence academic and work choices going forward.

For adults, LEPs may provide assessments that can help determine career choices and direction based on individual processing skills and interests.

Direct services provided by LEPs may include individual and group counseling services to students, adults and families to support issues that may affect academics and work performance.
